August/September 2005: It's easy to see why people fall in love with this place. Never mind the sheer scale ('breathtaking' might sound cliched but, for once, it's accurate) the ever-changing light and shadow playing over the many-coloured rock strata provide a constantly changing scene. This photo (taken just before sunset) is unique - as are the millions of others taken there every year.
The rocks might be static but blink and you'll miss the light!
